take The ServingOverSelling pledge
To help address the affordability crisis in the U.S. and truly put ServingOverSelling, organizations must affect real change. We are calling on health systems to reallocate their promotional marketing spend in whatever way possible to serve patients and communities rather than selling to them, which we recognize will not be easy, fast or potentially without pain. The ServingOverSelling Pledge is for those who are aligned with our movement and want to help address the healthcare crisis in this country where they have leverage: their own marketing spend.
For those wanting to support ServingOverSelling by taking the Pledge below, you have two options:
Read the pledge below and fill out the form to be listed among the Pledge signatories. Your name will be added to the list of other health system marketing leaders who have publicly pledged to support ServingOverSelling.
Privately support the movement by committing to the Pledge at your organization and working to help the affordability crisis by pursuing ServingOverSelling however you can.
We encourage you to take Option One, as the more health system marketing leaders publicly support the movement, the more change it will affect. But we also understand if you are unable to give your support publicly and greatly appreciate anything you can do to pursue ServingOverSelling.
the ServingOverSelling pledge
By committing to this pledge you are agreeing to pursue the following five actions to the best of your ability and signaling to the industry that you believe in putting ServingOverSelling and the good that will come from that.
I recognize that I can help address the healthcare crisis in America in my own way and better support my organization’s mission and reputation by reallocating resources to help those we serve – patients and community members – rather than selling to them.
I will set a goal of reallocating as much of our promotional marketing spend as possible, as defined by the ServingOverSelling movement. This may include patient acquisition marketing/performance marketing, service-line promotion, sponsorships, brand campaigns, or US News ranking activities, among other activities.
I will work to secure the support of my organization’s leadership – including the C-suite, clinical leadership and board members – to achieve this goal.
I will work to ensure that any money or other resources that are saved by reducing or eliminating my promotional marketing efforts will be reallocated to helping patients or the communities you serve, whether spent within my department or otherwise.
To help facilitate others in this effort, I will share to whatever degree possible my progress, challenges and success with the ServingOverSelling community and the health system marketing industry as a whole.
Complete the form below to be listed among the Pledge signatories on the Movement page.
A note to non-health system marketers wishing to support the movement
If you’re a former health system marketer, a health system executive who’s not in marketing, a consultant, vendor or partner, or other healthcare professional who wants to support the movement publicly, you can also commit to the pledge above by supporting those who ARE in health system marketing to pursue the five actions outlined in the Pledge. Just complete the form above to have your name added to the list of signatories.
